Ashley Zalewski enters her seventh season as an assistant coach for the University of Scranton volleyball program in 2022.

During her six years with the Royals, Scranton compiled a 116-64 overall record while making appearances in the Landmark Conference playoffs in all five seasons the Landmark playoffs were contested. For the first time since 2005, the team made it to the first round of the NCAA DIII Women’s Volleyball Tournament in 2021, highlighting Ashley’s time at the U of S.

Coach Ashley is a native of Factoryville, PA ,where she attended Tunkhannock Area High School and excelled while playing volleyball there. She made the All-State team in 2010 and was selected for the Wyoming Valley Conference First Team All-Stars in both 2009 and 2010. Named Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and MVP of the team in 2010, she also served as team captain for her 2010 senior season.

Ashley began her coaching career as the assistant volleyball coach at her alma mater, Marywood University, serving in that role for the one year. She entered these coaching ranks after a banner four-year career as a member of the volleyball team at Marywood, where she earned All-CSAC honors three times (second team in 2012 and first team in both 2013 and 2014).

In her senior season of 2014 (when she again served as team captain), Coach Ashley set the program record for attack percentage in a campaign (.353) and ranked 15th in the country in hitting percentage at the end of the year (.364).

Coach Ashley also served as the Abington Heights High School boys assistant volleyball coach from 2016-2019.

Ashley remains active playing year round in local leagues and at various indoor and grass tournaments. In 2019, she was a six rotation outside hitter for her women’s nationals team that took first place in the USA Volleyball Open National Championships in the Silver Flight Women’s B Division in Columbus, Ohio.
